The World’s Highest Paid Chef

Saturday October 25, 2008
Well, the world economy as we know it may be spiraling out of control into a recession. Casual dining may be facing extinction if things don’t improve soon. Restaurant workers may find themselves all living in cardboard boxes (okay, maybe I am being a little melodramatic) but there is one among us who is doing quite well. Gordon Ramsay has the distinction of being the Worlds Highest Paid Chef, grossing around 15 million pounds per year (around 23 million in US dollars), according to Telegraph.co.uk. He beats out Emeril (Bam! Take that Lagasse!), Rachel Ray (guess she’s better stick with Dunkin’ Donuts commercials) and my dame, Paula Deen.

Even though Gordon Ramsay is the top paid chef, a bulk of his earning come from non-restaurant related activities, particularly his successful American television series Hell’s kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares and his series of cookbooks.

Fast Facts About Gordon Ramsay

• Gordon Ramsay Holding runs 25 restaurants and pubs worldwide
• Gordon earns $250,000 per episode of Hell’s Kitchen and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares
• Gordon earns around one million pounds per book (around 1.5 million in US dollars)
