Mississippi Bill Would Make it Illegal for Restaurants to Serve Obese People

No, I am not making this up. House Bill No. 282 calls for Any food establishment to which this section applies shall not be allowed to serve food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the State Department of Health after consultation with the Mississippi Council on Obesity Prevention and Management established under Section 41-101-1 or its successor. Read it for yourself and share your thoughts at the Restauranting Forum.

I am just poking through the site, and as an obese person, you cannot tell from looking if it is just overeating or other health issues. I have had several thyoid surgeries, and the meds I take keep me looking “bloated” How is a resturant manager to know? This is too much to put on them. They are not doctors.
I have enough trouble with other doctors “counseling me” (like eye doctors, etc) who don’t know the whole story, or don’t read their charts!

This is a well meaning bill but it will be very difficult for the poor business owner.

I mean, you can tell when you need to cut off someone from drinking, put eating?
