Q. Ive always dreamed of opening my own restaurant. Should I do it?

By Lorri Mealey, About.com

A. Only if you think about it so much that you can no longer sleep. Starting a restaurant requires tremendous passion and excellent organizational and management skills. It also requires you to be a skilled salesperson, convincing banks and others to see the potential of your vision. You’ll have to hire and manage a staff and be able to manage a lot of stress and juggle many things at once. If you’re not a risk taker, keep your day job.

Small Business Development Centers or SBDC's are located at select colleges and universities. They offer local businesses and those wishing to start local businesses free or inexpensive business advice from talented students and professors.
